Bloom Terms & Conditions

This statement was last updated on 09.05.2026.

Appointments, Arrival Times & Cancellations

Bloom works on a one-to-one basis, ensuring your dog receives our full attention throughout their appointment. Clients must arrive promptly at the agreed drop-off and collection times.

Most appointments last approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. We will contact you around 20 minutes before your dog is ready for collection. If you arrive early, we kindly ask that you remain out of sight until contacted, as seeing their owner can excite some dogs and make it unsafe to complete the groom.

As appointments are reserved exclusively for your dog, we require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling wherever possible, so we have the opportunity to offer the slot to another client.

If Bloom needs to cancel due to illness, emergency, or unforeseen circumstances, we will provide as much notice as possible and arrange a new appointment promptly.

Grooming Consultation & Style Requests

Your dog will be groomed to your requested style wherever possible, taking into account your dog’s temperament, coat condition, and tolerance of the grooming process.

Your dog’s safety, comfort, and welfare will always take priority over achieving a specific style.

If you would like any adjustments made, please let us know at collection before leaving the salon and we will do our best to accommodate.

Prices & Additional Charges

Prices are based on breed, coat type, size, temperament, coat condition, and time required.

Additional charges may apply where extra time or specialist handling is needed, including but not limited to:

  • Matted coats

  • Difficult behaviour or handling

  • Excessively dirty coats

  • Flea or tick treatment

  • Late collection or missed appointments (where applicable)

Any additional charges will be discussed where possible.

Matted Coats

Matted coats can cause discomfort, skin irritation, restricted movement, and other welfare concerns. In line with the Animal Welfare Act, Bloom will not subject dogs to unnecessary pain or distress by attempting to brush out severe matting.

Where a coat is excessively matted, clipping short may be the safest and kindest option. We will always try to contact you for approval before proceeding. However, if we are unable to reach you, we reserve the right to proceed with the option we believe is safest for your dog.

Additional charges may apply due to the extra time, care, and equipment wear involved.

Possible after-effects of clipping out matting may include:

  • Skin redness or sensitivity

  • Itching or irritation

  • Minor abrasions

  • Haematomas (particularly around ears)

  • Temporary coat texture or regrowth changes

By presenting your dog with a matted coat, you acknowledge these risks and accept responsibility for any related veterinary treatment costs if required.

Fleas, Ticks & Parasites

If fleas or ticks are discovered during grooming, your dog will need to be treated immediately to protect other dogs and maintain salon hygiene standards.

A £20 additional charge will apply to cover treatment, cleaning, and extra time required to sanitise the salon.

Ticks found during grooming may be removed where safe to do so, and we recommend seeking further veterinary advice if necessary. We also advise treating your home and other pets where appropriate.

Aggressive or Difficult Dogs

Owners must inform Bloom in advance if their dog has bitten, shown aggression, or reacts negatively to people, dogs, handling, or grooming procedures.

For safety reasons, muzzles or restraint aids may be used when necessary. These will always be used humanely and for the minimum time required.

If your dog becomes aggressive or excessively distressed during the groom, we reserve the right to stop the appointment immediately. Full or partial grooming charges may still apply depending on work completed.

Senior Dogs & Health Conditions

Older dogs or dogs with underlying health issues may find grooming more tiring or stressful. Grooming can sometimes reveal or aggravate existing medical conditions.

We will always work as gently and carefully as possible. However, if your dog becomes unwell or we believe veterinary attention is required while in our care, you authorise us to seek veterinary advice or treatment at your expense.

Dogs We Cannot Accept

For welfare and safety reasons, Bloom does not accept dogs for grooming if they are:

  • Under sedation

  • Pregnant

  • In season

We may also refuse grooming where a dog is unwell, highly contagious, or presents a safety risk.

Puppy Introductions

We recommend introducing puppies to grooming from around 12 weeks of age, once initial vaccinations have been completed (or as advised by your vet). Early positive experiences help puppies become comfortable with future grooming.

Photographs

We may occasionally take photographs of our grooming work for use on our website or social media pages.

If you do not wish your dog to be photographed, please let us know before the appointment.

Payment Terms

Full payment is required at the end of the appointment.

  • We currently accept:

  • Cash

  • Bank transfer
